When you think of Hong Kong, “picturesque pools” probably aren’t the first thing that come to mind. But this hyper-efficient, super-urban metropolis is loaded with cool water spots, from the world’s highest pool to a natural infinity pond on a mountainside.
At Hotel Indigo, you can swim in a pool that protrudes from the building and overlooks Victoria Harbor. And the best part is that you can get Instagram-ready photos with people below while you’re swimming — even though it’s only open to hotel guests.
Once you enter the pool area, there’s an olympic size pool right away. There’s also a changing room that’s separated into female, male and family areas. There’s plenty of lockers for everyone as well as benches in the areas.
There are also some great public pools, like the seaside Kennedy Town pool and the Four Seasons’ breathtaking infinity pool that overlooks Victoria Harbor. There’s a lap pool, whirlpool and even an ice-cold plunge pool on the same scenic deck. In the mountains, a series of pools and waterfalls at Bride’s Pool is a popular hiking destination for locals (though the trek is steep and sweaty). There’s also the cliff jump into Shueng Luk stream in Sai Kung, which attracts adventurers aiming to conquer the eight-meter cliff.
