The HK Prize and BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION PRIZE

Aiming at promoting Hong Kong studies and its relations with Asia, the world, and beyond. Facilitating interactions and collaborations among scholars and students of Hong Kong history, politics, society and culture; and encouraging the development of new theories, concepts and methodologies in Hong Kong studies.

The HK Prize is a non-profit foundation established to recognise, support and celebrate the outstanding contributions of changemakers in Hong Kong. The Prize offers a total of HK$480 million (approximately US$61.6 million) to encourage and reward laureates to scale their work internationally. Half of the Prize sum is an unrestricted project fund to support changemakers in achieving their objectives.

Established to honour the memory of Carter Kim Combe, Lecturer (1946-57) and Senior Lecturer (1957-62) in the Department of History; and Henry Lloyd Thornell Koren, Lecturer (1930-33) and Professor Emeritus in History. Awarded annually to the student with the best second-term junior independent work in History.

BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION PRIZE is hosted by Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation, sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited. The PRIZE is awarded to scientists and research teams with innovative scientific research achievements in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Life and Health, New Materials and New Energy, Advanced Manufacturing and FinTech. Each award field reward should not be given to more than 5 persons (or team).

In an effort to boost the profile of Hong Kong-based science and technology, the hk prize was created in 2006. The prestigious prize has become the most important scientific accolade in the city, with winners receiving a cash prize as well as an engraved trophy. The HK Prize also hosts an annual gala to celebrate the winning scientist.

Hong Kong’s racing industry has weathered many a storm, with the sport first battered by social unrest and then the coronavirus pandemic. However, despite the challenging times, the Hong Kong Jockey Club remains committed to the future of the industry. It announced on Tuesday that prize money will be increased across the board, including a 20% boost to the prize pool for its domestic centrepiece race, the BMW Hong Kong Derby.

To ensure the fairness of the hk prize draw, employees from HKJC’s security and customer service departments will check and test all materials used for the draw on a regular basis, from boxing to transport. In addition, the balls used for the draw will be weighed and X-rayed on a regular basis. Furthermore, the drawing machine is locked and sealed after each draw. All the results will be verified and X-rayed before being released. To further enhance the transparency of the hk prize process, the results will be posted on the hk prize website and Facebook page. This will allow the public to know exactly who won the prize and how it was decided. The results will be officially declared on the hk prize website and Facebook on 25 November.
