Q Artistry Calls For Teen Submissions
Q Artistry, a local theatre and arts organization dedicated to new works,is calling for new plays written by Indiana residents, aged 13-18. Submissions will be considered for Q Artistry’s April 13th and 14th Teen Playwrights Festival. All selected submissions will receive staged readings in a performance setting. Playwrights will have the opportunity to work hand in hand with established directors in the community to present the reading. From this festival, a play will be selected by audiences to be produced in Q Artistry’s 2013 season.
The Festival accepts completed scripts that require no more than 30 cast members. There is no limitation on length or subject matter (One Acts, 15 minute plays, 2 Acts… all accepted). Only works from Indiana residents between the ages of 13 and 18 will be accepted. Submissions should be accompanied by a synopsis of the work’s plot and a character list. Musicals must include a cd of songs from the show and/or a completed score with submission. Playwrights should not expect these items to be returned.
As part of the 2012 Teen Playwrights Festival at the Q, the audience will “play a lead role” in bringing new works to life by voting for the play they would most like to see presented by Q Artistry within the following year. In addition, the public will have many opportunities to watch the progress of the selected works and learn about what “makes live theatre happen” during events scheduled throughout the production process.
The deadline for submissions is March 1st at 4pm. Submissions will be selected by the festival selection committee with preference given to the first qualified submissions received. So, the earlier you submit… the better! Playwrights may electronically send scripts to submissions@qartistry.org, by snail mail to Q Artistry, 147 North Highland Ave, Indianapolis, IN or drop off at the Indianapolis Senior Center 8-4 mon-fri.
